I have been a conscious seeker of the Eternal Truth for as long as I can remember in this life. I began studying and practicing Yoga when I was very young, with guidance mostly from books written by great Yogis who shared their experience of the Eternal Truth. I had read about the importance of finding a noble, knowledgeable teacher on the path of Yoga. I wasn’t sure if I would ever find an actual living and authentic teacher, but I asked for it.
In 2012, I was introduced to Acharya’s book, Yogabhumika, and immediately felt he could be the teacher for me. He had plans to travel to the United States and share his teachings at a few locations connected to Sadvidya Foundation. I invited him to my Yoga shala in Tucson, Arizona and he graciously accepted. From the first moment of being in his presence, I knew he was the teacher for me. His lectures were educational, inspiring, and witty… but what made the biggest impression for me was the way he spoke, sat, walked, laughed, and carried himself in general. I wanted to be more like him in every way… I still do and strive for it every day.
It’s very challenging to express, in short, the profoundly positive impact Acharya has had on my life and the lives of my family members. I feel incredibly blessed to hold the knowledge he has shared, and I am encouraged by this knowledge to boldly move forward in a life of selfless service. No matter how challenging things may be, I always remember the Eternal Truth, and am comforted.
I am eternally grateful to Acharya, Vijaya, and Bharati Yoga Dhama for welcoming and embracing us Western students.
Namaste,
