An ideal student is humble and has a thirst for knowledge. He is honest in both his words and deeds. He is straightforward, obedient, and ready to adopt an ideal yogic way of life. One notable word used to refer to an ideal student is śiṣya, meaning a student who embraces his teacher through his heart and allows himself to become one with his teacher; thus, a commitment develops between teacher and student that will remain true to Realization.
