Gheraṇḍa Saṁhitā Classes, Mysore Oct 2017
Dear Jivana Yoga well-wishers,
The Gheraṇḍa Saṁhitā Classes have begun. We are blessed to be receiving these teachings in Acarya’s home while the JP Nagar classroom is being repaired. The space is small, yet there is vastness in the room.
There has been a plethora of lightning and thunder each night, Mysore is lush and cool.
The Gheraṇḍa Saṁhitā belongs to hatha yoga. It contains seven upadeśas, preachings or advice, in the form of questions between Gheranda and his humble student Chanda.
ha = right nostril breathing, prana, puruṣa
tha = left nostril breathing, apana, prakṛti
yoga = union for these two
The seven upadeśas: Ṣaṭkarma, āsana, mudrā, pratyāhāra, prāṇāyāma, dhyāna, Samādhi
