Kelli, United States
Hi everyone, I’m Kelli. It’s been so nice to get to know a little more about you via these blog posts.
My connection to Sadvidya came through my yoga teacher in San Francisco, Sidney, and his wife Ngoce, both long time students of Acharya. They let me know of a last minute opportunity to go to the public talks with Acharya and the group in Mysore in January 2020, just before the pandemic.
India has had an innate draw to me for as long as I can remember (so interesting that I’ve heard several of you mention the same), and while I had spent significant time there previously, this brief trip made a unique impression on me. I felt an undeniable resonance with Acharya’s teachings and left eager to stay engaged and return as soon as I could.
Of course, shortly thereafter, Covid happened, and all plans were put on hold. Since that time, I’ve landed back in my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska (USA) and have had the unexpected blessing to spend significant time with my family after many years away.
The time at home has really reignited my love of cooking, and my mom and I have been especially enjoying experimenting with recipes shared by several of you online (on the Sadvidya website and also on Stacey’s delightful goodnessis.com collection). I also love to be outside (hiking, biking, picnicking, wandering) and have recently started learning piano.
While I can’t hide my excitement at finally being able to gather again in person in July, it’s been a true gift to have the online classes during this time and a special joy to participate alongside my mom, Marcia. The weekly Saturday sessions along with Kristin’s yoga classes create a grounding rhythm and connection to Acharya’s teachings and the group. I feel inspired to be in the company of like minds / like intentions and look forward to getting to know you all better over time.
I feel especially grateful to the senior students who have walked this path for many years and have paved the way through dedicated pursuit of Acharya’s teachings and by collecting and organizing so many resources for the rest of us. Your deep sense of intention and care is evident in so many ways.
I look forward to continuing along this path with all of you and to being with many of you in person soon! In the meantime, if anyone finds themselves in Omaha (perhaps on a road trip between coasts :-), don’t hesitate to reach out.
