Fátima, Portugal
My name is Fátima Clamote, I have lived in Lisbon since I was 19 years old. I was born in a small village in the north of Portugal. I have 3 sisters, 4 brothers and I live with my only son, 15 years old.
At the age of 23, I felt the need to practice yoga but I couldn’t find a place where I had confidence. At the age of 33, I started looking for yoga again, but I was diverted to Tai Chi. Only when I was 37 I started my yoga practice, which I found without looking. From 2000 to 2016 I took classes with several teachers and different class structures. At the end of 2016, I met Sadvidya Association and immediately noticed that it was what I was looking for, asana, pranayama, meditation, food, philosophy of life. During these 4 years, I have learned much more than I ever dreamed of. I have observed and learned the noblest qualities, compassion, tolerance, contentment, resilience, generosity and I am very grateful to all those who contributed to this learning.
The covid brought a major change to the way I decide and execute my duties and actions. I didn’t use to be very analytical on the path I must follow. The usual thing was to have an idea, decide what to do and execute that decision. I never used to ask anyone’s opinion and later I had to carry the consequences, good or bad, and often difficult to manage.
The corona virus almost stopped my professional and social activity and that’s why I got the feeling that what I didn’t do today could be done tomorrow or the next day. Adding this feeling to my learning in the Jívana Yoga course I started to think, to analyze in more detail, to get the opinion of more knowledgeable people before deciding what to do.
The corona presented me with something very good, the possibility of attending Sadvidya’s activities without leaving home. Samskrta, Yoga Sutra and Bhagavad Gita classes have allowed me to learn but more importantly, they have been a support, a company, a help to easily change my lifestyle.
I salute Acarya to whom I am very grateful for allowing his knowledge to expand and I thank Stacey, Jonathan and Lior for their availability, understanding and joy.
