Bhagavad-gītā Retreat, Porcupine Castle, Coorg, November 2017
Post from Jonathan and Stacey
There is a saying in English when noting someone’s achievements that goes – “it is a feather in your cap!”
Recently, in light of Ācārya’s teachings on the Bhagavad Gītā, this idiom has taken on a whole new significance.
Ācārya spoke some introductory words regarding the attractive appearance of Kṛṣṇa and drew our attention to the often represented peacock’s feather adorning his head. He explained how the tail feather of a peacock has 3 parts indicating the dynamic of sattva, rajas and tamas in this creation, whilst the overall shape is one of a small flame with a sharp end or tip that represents the Eternal Truth. By adorning himself in this way, Ācārya declared that “Kṛṣṇa is indirectly enlightening us all, that whilst we are having birth in a universe of sattva, rajas and tamas, we should never forget the Eternal Truth which is the target of life.”
Every time we have the extraordinary privilege of being in Ācārya’s presence, our understanding of what it means to have the Eternal Truth as the target of life deepens and our confidence in progressing on this path increases.
With heartfelt gratitude to our teacher and, in his words, wishing us all yogic success.
